The funeral was held on the Friday the 30th of August 2002 at Saint Michael's Church, New Lane Hill in Tilehurst. It really was a day to be proud of.

The turnout was absolutely amazing, totally exceeding all of our expectations. Having so many people wanting to come and pay their last respects was the best tribute that everyone could have paid him.

The procession which started at the end of (see map for the route taken) Overdown Road consisted of approximately 400 walkers and three cars, one of which included the hearse. The walk took approximately 40 minutes over a distance of 1.5 miles.

On arriving at the church there were a further 200 or so people already waiting. AB Walker & Sons funeral directors said that it was one of the biggest they have arranged.
